LiftedUp has step-by-step directions for various ways you can help from becoming a foster parent to helping out once a year. Here are just a few of the incredibly easy ways to help a foster child.

  1. Organize a small group from your church or community to provide an evening of child care at your local Department of Human Services office. Foster parents are required to attend training and child care is NOT provided which makes it very difficult to attend. By providing just one evening (usually 5:30-9:30) of child care at the DHS office you are encouraging and enabling a foster parent to continue their important job of caring for modern-day orphans. LiftedUp can help you with all the details as long as you provide the volunteers.
  2. Organize a small group from your church or community to provide an evening of child care at your church, community center of children’s play facility (Safari Sams.) Invite foster parents to have their support meeting at your location while you provide free child care. LiftedUp can help you with all the details as long as you provide the volunteers.
  3. Organize a small group from your church or community to hold a fund-raising event for LiftedUp (a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation). A progressive dinner with a donation of $25 per couple will raise $300-400 and you’ll have a lot of fun at the same time.
  4. Organize a local LiftedUp program in your church or community and recruit and train volunteers to:
    1. Give foster parents a scheduled break (monthly, bi-weekly or even weekly) by providing baby sitting for their foster children.
    2. Create a list of volunteers willing to provide unscheduled baby-sitting for their foster children in extreme stressful or emergency situations.
    3. Recruit and train one or two families to provide a weekend of rest for foster parents by taking their foster kids from Friday to Monday. (OK these are not incredibly easy but they are worth the effort when you are ready to take them on.
  5. Give your talents to LiftedUp Inc.
    1. Help with mailings and printing and newsletters and filing and record keeping.
    2. Help with training and oversight of Local LiftedUp Programs.
    3. Raise money for LiftedUp, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
    4. Be a LiftedUp evangelist and take the LiftedUp story into the entire world.
